InMath
movemen GmbH
"I'm now up and running and happy with InMath (CS3). Thank you again for the excellent software."
Dr. Craig J. Farham, The Science Press
InMath is the plug-in for real mathematical typesetting with InDesign and InCopy. It is available for InCopy/InDesign CS2 (InMath 1.6.5), for InCopy/InDesign CS3 (InMath 1.7.6), and for InCopy/InDesign CS4 (InMath 1.8.1).
Unlike so-called equation editors, InMath depicts mathematical expressions solely using characters. No graphical element, no anchored or linked frame is needed. InMath stores and manages all settings as "styles", just like e.g. character styles.
Readabilities 3.0
i.t.i.p./aextra
Readabilities is a plug-in for InCopyCS3/CS4 and InDesignCS3/CS4 on both platforms MAC and WIN.
It analyzes text in InCopy stories, articles as well as in entire InDesign text threads and documents, using acknowledged industry-standard methods and thus determines objective and reliable scores for the readability of this text. Based on this measure, Readabilities can tell you for which grade level your text is suitable. Or, in other words: How educated has someone to be in order to understand your text? For you as an editor, this is an invaluable information, because it answers the central question: "Will my intended reader group understand what I'm just writing?"
Readabilities is available in two versions: a single place version, named Readabilities, and a special K4 version, named Readabilities (K4).
InMath Seminars
InMath Training Courses, Expert Seminars, and more
i.t.i.p. comes to where our customers are. Rudi Warttmann, i.t.i.p.'s Managing Director and Adobe Certified Instructor, conducts an InMath seminar there, consisting of a complete InMath user training complemented by a ton of tips and tricks for well-designed and technically perfect mathematical typesetting. Besides the actual InMath functions, many related issues are discussed in great detail, like e.g. Unicode necessity, OpenType particularities, font issues in general, general rules for mathematical typesetting, exchanging equations between InCopy and InDesign, and more.
The last InMath Seminar took place on December 5th, 2008, in Cape Town, South Africa, and was a very successful event:
"Dear Rudi, firstly, a huge thank you for coming all this way to hold the seminar. Both Lorraine and I found it very useful, and very stimulating – your knowledge is encyclopedic and very inspiring!" Margie, Overflo Design & DTP
topset MathExpert Font
Rudi Warttmann
"topsetMathExpert41" is a very special mathematical font which has been designed to depict arrowheads over a selection of characters as well as scalable lying braces. It has been developed especially for InMath users who can use standard InMath techniques to depict vectors or any number of characters with different kinds of arrows, without distorting the arrowheads.

i.t.i.p. Tip – InDesign
A New Non-Breaking Space Character
You might have noticed that Adobe introduced a second "non-breaking space" character with InCopy/InDesignCS3. The new one behaves in principle like the "old" one, but has no fixed width. This means, it will be stretched or shrunk during the composition, if you use a "justify" paragraph alignment.
The bad news is that they decided to assign the familiar keyboard shortcut "Cmd-Alt-X"/"Ctrl-Alt-X" to the new one! So be aware that your automatically typed "Cmd-Alt-X"/"Ctrl-Alt-X" characters won't have the usual fixed width.
Of course you can change the keyboard shortcuts by using the usual technique: "Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts".
